Greg and Sol canoed in to our site while Poppy and I walked/hauled the cart in on the 1/2 mile trek. Poppy gives a goodbye and goodluck kiss to Papa.
refueling with a big, juicy apple
we IMMEDIATELY got a fire going to ward off the hoards and hoards of giant mosquitoes
Poppy offers to help out with the axe! Always wanting to lean a helping hand, that girl!
While the camp was still being set up, the kids entertained themselves really well.
our one bottle of eco-groovy bug spray lasted only a few hours. we ended up using the DEET loaded can....and then we had to go buy another can before our trip was over...just barely 24 hours. Did I mention the mosquitoes were horrendous!!?!?!?
these hammocks are GREAT!!! Poppy always makes herself at home in it.
our sweet little camp all set up and being enjoyed.
camp Poppy.
camp Sol.
before bed cereal by the fire.
all tucked into their new sleeping bags.
fun with the glow sticks in the tent.
good morning coffee and hot chocolate.
not the worlds greatest night sleep this time, but the coffee should kick in soon!
a GREAT camp breakfast. such a relaxing way to start the day.
one more bit of R & R in the hammock before we pack it all back up till next year!
headed home already - hot, tired, full of bites and a good bit of fun memories again this time.
What a fun adventure. Love all the pics, but especially the last one - on the way home and TIRED!!! Could they get more precious? Love Sol's new haircut. Can't wait to see you all soon. love nana
ReplyDeleteI really love the photos, but the first and last one are fantastic! I love how you captured all the gear in the car..for an overnighter. Ha! Perspective. Good job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great family tradition.
I want to be reincarnatd as your next child~
ReplyDeleteYay camp! Boooo mosquitos! Ugh, they are the worst. All the pictures are great as usual. My faves are Poppy with the axe, bedtime cereal with snuggles, and Camp Sol/Camp Poppy. Also, I really love that hat you are wearing with your coffee JJ! It looks like up-cycled sweaters and I may have to inspect it next time to see if a homemade version is possible.
ReplyDeletePoppy's big moon eyes and that tiny, deliciously red strawberry are priceless. What cutie pies. It was so nice to see you briefly last summer at the playground, and we look forward to another RL mini reunion.
ReplyDeleteLooks like your family is up to some great adventures.
xoxo
