tidbits

For the second year in a row here in Madison, Greg has participated in summer lacrosse. We have all went to one of the games so far to watch him doing what he loves to do and to cheer him on a bit. Sol was especially good at the cheering him on.

Sol has been attending Kid's Camp in South Carolina with his Nana and Grandpa for four consecutive summers now. One week long of fun in the Carolina sun and doing the summer camp thing. These next pictures are of the night before Sol and Nana left. The stars aligned for some great sibling fun and for some belly-aching laugh episodes.

Good-bye Sol and Nan!! Have a great time!
as seen by Greg, JJ and Poppy through the security gate at the airport...

After dropping Sol and Nan off at the airport, the three of us (G, J and P) went downtown to the Capital Square for the early morning farmer's market. We enjoyed a fresh Nutella muffin and a cold-press coffee and a lovely breakfast out at a cafe focusing on using local ingredients (breakfast 'out' for us is usually unheard of as we barely make it out before 2 PM on weekends...we are really good at lounging around in our free time!) After breakfast we people-watched on the steps of the Capital, we were finally able to snag a balloon for Poppy - she is always begging us for one and they are usually nowhere to be found, and then before heading home we took a nice walk around the Monona Terrace. All in all, it was a perfect moment in time.

While Sol was gone for the week, Poppy had some special time to do the things that just Poppy wanted to do....like paint.

And go to Olbrich Gardens mid-day with Mama and Papa...

And just sit back and quietly enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and love of the moment.

We had a great time hanging out with just Poppy for the week....it was especially nice because we knew that Sol was having the time of his life at Nana and Grandpa's and at camp. He and Grandpa arrived home on the 4th of July, Nick and Jess came to town for a quick two-day-visit and we were able to all get together for a dinner at our place to enjoy each others company for a brief evening. It was a great holiday weekend of just reconnecting and catching up.

  2. Such fun pictures! Thank you again for making the most delicious lasagna for us all. I think it was the first time I've ever eaten lasagna al fresco and I loved it! Also, I'm glad to see the little market bag is getting used and looks quite appropriate with Greg holding onto it (Nick isn't a fan of carring my "girly" market bags).
