4 day week, 3 day weekend!!

I had forgotten to add these...or I thought I had then later realized that there were no pictures of our kite flying!! Sol got the 'Cyclops' for his birthday from Grandpa Hayes and Grandma Lana and this was it's first flight. Great kite and a perfect day for it! We all took a turn at it and we felt like kite-flying pros it was such an easy one to maneuver.

The Cyclops!

Cookies. Mimo gave us Cooks Illustrated for a Christmas gift and I love it!! This Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe claims to be "the perfect one" being "crispy on the outside, with a chewy center, and with a deep toffee flavor." I have to say, none of us have any complaints about it.

A long Easter Sunday walk tired both Sol and Papa out.

Sourdough bread....not from the bread machine.

Poppy and I began two weeks ago going to a playgroup called Dane County Mobile Play and Learn Group. Every Wednesday in Middleton this HUGE bus unloads an entire preschool room: tables, books, toys, kids play kitchens, rugs, pillows, boxes of activities, etc. Really, it is exactly that, a preschool environment but it is free and full of a great cultural mix...there are kids and parents from North Africa, Russia, and the 2 1/2 hour program is run half in Spanish, so of course there is a large Latino population involved too!! The people are so nice, both the program directors and the parents (they must accompany the kids, so in that way it's like a co-op run school) and the kids.... Poppy is loving it!! This is her first piece of 'school art.'

Another great package from Grandpa Hayes and Grandma Lana arrived!! That always ensures a bunch of smiles....and banana bread!! Thanks soooo much, Dad and Lana!

New bird discovery (in our yard, at least.) A Northern Flicker is a woodpecker that hunts on the ground for ants. I was able to look it up in the book, North American Wildlife, that was given to Greg by Nick and Jess. Great gift and many thanks again, we use it all the time!

Sol was off from school on Friday so we met Greg for lunch down by his office then spent a couple hours with him at work. The kids love hanging out there drawing with their markers, exploring the offices (only one other employee was working) and just being with Papa while he was 'working.' I am not sure how much he actually got done with us there! It was so fun and Greg got to leave early so it really extended our long weekend.

Like father, like daughter.

Like father, like son.

Mimo, the kids love their new Puzzlemainia Books!! Thanks for the subscription!!

On Saturday, we went to Cross Plains, about 25 minutes from Middleton, for an Egg Hunt. We met our friends, Hillary and Lucas and their kids there then went over to their house for lunch afterwards. Good times! The egg hunt was divided into age categories and the camera went with Poppy this year...her first Egg hunt!

Sol and Poppy's pretty eggs that they colored and dyed. We only had blue and yellow dye but we had some beets for dinner so we used the peels and some of the grated beets for the dye. They turned a very light and very pretty, pinkt.

The results from the Egg Hunt at our house.

The Easter Bunny brought the kids new jammies and electric toothbrushes (not pictured!)

Another fun week and weekend.
